Losing the Field: The Field Party #4 by Abbi Glines – Review

Losing the Field (The Field Party, #4)Losing the Field: The Field Party #4 by Abbi Glines – Published August 21st, 2018 by Simon Pulse

Losing his dream, his ultimate plan, and his future- Nash Lee never expected to be facing a life without football. One wrong move and it had all changed. Going back to school for his senior year no longer appealed to him. He’d rather not leave his house. Walking back into Lawton High School, seeing pity in everyone’s eyes was just another reality in his nightmare.

Revenge wasn’t a pretty thing. Tallulah Liddell had found it was rather controlling. The way you looked at life changed completely when you clung to the ugly notion. But she’d done it anyway. From the last day of her junior year when Ryker Lee had made a fat joke about her and Nash laughed with him, she’d been driven by pain. It wasn’t like no one had made fun of her weight before. She was used to that. What had hurt so deeply was Nash’s laughter. He’d always been the one person to notice her, include her, not treat her differently. But that one moment had changed it all. From the time she walked out of the school building to the moment, she returned for her senior year Tallulah had been determined to lose weight and finally be the size her peers considered acceptable.

What she wasn’t expecting on her return was to find a broken Nash Lee who no longer smiled, rarely spoke, and didn’t care about anything or anyone around him. He was just existing. But the pain in his eyes she understood all too well. He was alone. He no longer fit into the perfect package.

Abbi GlinesAbout the author: Abbi Glines is a #1 New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the Rosemary Beach, Sea Breeze, Vincent Boys, Field Party and Existence series. She never cooks unless baking during the Christmas holiday counts. She believes in ghosts and has a habit of asking people if their house is haunted before she goes in it. She drinks afternoon tea because she wants to be British but alas she was born in Alabama. When asked how many books she has written she has to stop and count on her fingers. When she’s not locked away writing, she is reading, shopping (major shoe and purse addiction), sneaking off to the movies alone, and listening to the drama in her teenager’s lives while making mental notes on the good stuff to use later. Don’t judge.

You can connect with Abbi online in several different ways. She uses social media to procrastinate. www.abbiglinesbooks.com  –  Twitter  –  Facebook  –  Instagram

Review of Losing the Field: The Field Party #4:  I started this series with the first book Until Friday Night and fell in love with the characters. The Field Party Series is set in Lawton, Alabama where the characters attend the local high school. Losing the Field takes place at the same high school as the previous books but with a new cast of characters. These new characters have connections with the characters from the previous books. None of the previous narrators (West, Maggie, Brady, Riley, Willa, Gunner) are in this book at all. They have all graduated from high school. So this book looks at a new bunch of seniors and you are sure to fall in love with them!

Losing the Field is a lovely story of revenge and forgiveness. When Tallaulah has her feelings hurt by her crush at the end of her junior year, she sets her mind on revenge. She spends the summer before her senior year walking and walking some more. All while replaying that day in her head making her even more determined to lose weight. What she does not know is that Nash spent his summer dealing with the regret of the accident that ended his football career before it ever had a chance to really take off.

Glines has written a story that is sure to tug at your heart and remind you that looks are not everything. You never know what someone is really dealing with when most people take things at face value. A message that hits home with many.

I enjoyed reading the banter between Tallulah and Nash. He really has a way of getting under her skin with his remarks but she sees past his rough exterior and sees the person he really has always been.

Losing the Field will take you on a roller coaster of emotions from anger to happiness. A story that is filled with love, second chances, family, hot football players, loads of drama, and Friday night lights making this the perfect Fall read! **This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.**
